What is a citation? Why is it important to use them? Which kind should you use? What tools are there to help?
Your instructors have told you that you must use correct MLA or APA documentation in your research papers. See the library’s MLA / APA Citations page for links to some guides and tools: once you know which style you need to use, pick the guide you like best. Then find the instructions for the type of source you need to cite (for example, “book with unknown author” or “article retrieved from a library’s subscription database”), and fill in the information from your source.
Remember, library staff can show you how to use the guides, but we can’t do your citations for you! And when in doubt, always check with your instructor.
